The reading of the Will

Another great one from Hale and Pace.
This is a classic set up…an assembly of friends, family
and peripheral cast all in one room to hear what they
may have inherited from a recently deceased person of wealth.
All sorts of fun possibilities in that scenario and this
does not disappoint…

Makes me wonder why Hale and Pace are not known here,
across the pond…that are very good at what they do!

Riiiiight!

The is the first time that I post the esteemed Bill Cosby
and it will not be the last.
The peak of his fame came a few years back, his extensive
work in television and comedy recordings is classic in
every sense of the word, but he is just as relevant now
as he ever was.
I respect him mightily for his comedic talents, he has
shown that he can stand with the best of them as far as
classic pieces are concerned…Natural Childbirth,
The Dentist, Kill the Boy, etc;
Combine that with his highly rated The Cosby Show and you
have a true icon in the comedy world.
This is a favorite of C101R listeners and myself, a real
game changer when it first came out in the 60s, it still
kills today…

Great stuff!

Pandas must expire

…or something like that!
Canada certainly has its share of funny people!
They have produced more than you might realize, a lot of top
shelf talent has come from there.
Corky and the Juice Pigs was one of the better ones…
Sean Cullen, Phil Nichol and Greg Neale were as twisted and as
FUNNY as they come!
This is a classic from them…

Sick AND twisted, what a combo!

She has HUGE tracks of land!

When I think of intelligent comedy the very first name that
comes to mind is Monty Python.
There are others, don’t get me wrong, and I appreciate them
also, but let’s face it…THERE IS NOBODY BETTER!
Now that we have THAT settled, here’s a goofy little piece
that I have been “pocket” quoting for YEARS!
You know…when someone leaves the room and says
“I’ll be back in a second” I get right up on them and
say “I’m going with YOU!”

Too funny!

One of the BEST ever!

The late, great George Carlin was the absolute top of
the heap in the stand up comedy world, when he was “on”
there was nobody better.
In the 70s he helped bring on a landmark Supreme Court
ruling that basically affirmed that the US government can
regulate material that is indecent, on the public airwaves.
This was known as the Seven Dirty Words case.
He went through several changes over the years, always
adapting to the world around him.
To my surprise, and delight, the latter part of his career
saw some great output from George, there are those that
say it was some of his best work ever.
This piece is absolutely superb, there is nothing like it
from any other comedian on the planet, the best of the best.
It is also the most requested Carlin piece, by far, on
Comedy 101 Radio, it is outstanding in EVERY way.

Tremendous!
RIP George, you are missed!

What are you holding now?!

Three Dead Trolls in a Baggie, the best group name EVER
in my humble opinion, are a Canadian comedy troupe that
have made some great sketches over the years.
I play their material on the show to good reviews and I
hope to see and hear more from them in the future.
This sketch, Welcome to the Internet Help Desk, is from
2002 and is just a tad dated but it is still quite
enjoyable…some of the terminology is quaint but the
peripherals are the same, boy are they the SAME!

Nice premise.

Keep my private life out of it

Kip Addotta is a huge icon in the comedy song genre.
He has been around a long time and has produced many
great ditties, some outright classics.
I have been playing him on the show for years and his
material still makes me laugh.
Here he is with one of his most well known pieces…

More to come!

I HATE Blockbuster!

Gary Gulman is a talented stand-up comedian who REALLY
hates Blockbuster…then again, who doesn’t?
He adds some good perspective here, with a comedic
point of view, of course.
He has a lot of great material that I play on the show!

More to come…

I can kill you with a thought

This is a cool little video that brings the best of two
comedic worlds together, stand-up and sketch.
Starring the intrepid Eddie Izzard, he of British cross
dressing and comedy fame (two more things that don’t
usually go together), it is a pretty funny look at
the Death Star, Darth (NOT Jeff) Vader and eating.
NSFW! A few F-bombs in here but well worth the 3 minutes!

“Did you dry these in a rain forest?!”
LMAO!!!

Blinded by the Light

The Vacant Lot was a Canadian comedy troupe that had a CBC
television show back in the mid 90s.
The group consisted of four members, one of which was Nick
McKinney, brother of Mark McKinney, of Kids in the Hall fame.
The other three were Rob Gfroerer, Vito Viscomi and Paul
Greenberg.
They may have been around for only a short time but they
created some great comedy that I play on the show.
My favorite is “(This Song’s Gonna Make a) Great Video”
a superb imagery laden parody of bad MTV videos.
Here is a nice jab at the Bruce Springsteen penned song
made famous by Manfred Mann…

There are two versions of this song by them.
I will add the other one soon.
