Comedy 101 Radio 4.28.22

I have been preoccupied with death recently.
Not to the point of depression by any means, just a curiousity
brought on by some of my peers dying of natural causes.
My company just had a couple of employees pass away that
were of high standing, decent folks trying to make a living.
Instead of shrinking in fear of dying I prefer to make fun of it.
Death happens to us all eventually, you’re damned right it’s
open to ridicule.
Yes, of course a death block, towards the end.
Starts off with a mental health block, lots to mine there.
The late, great Richard Jeni with a humorous lament.
Classic comedy from the Python gang, one of many variations
they had performed over the years.
Baseball block, not sure why, went with the flow.
Corky and the Juice Pigs gave me a great interview and promo
a while back, and no I do not want to think about how time flies.
One of Emo’s best pieces, classic stuff.
Andrew Calhoun is a proud man with perhaps a tad too much T.
John Wing deserved the top spot.
Onward, in the direction of success, that a way, over there..

The Confession

I love it when a very respected musical entity decides to
put out a novelty song, or two.
It tends to be a labor of love, with some dark and twisted
thrown in for good measure.
If you are not a comedy artist you tend to put everything you
have into the lone humorous ditty…no fluff, all funny.
Colcannon is one such band, one of the better Irish/Celtic
groups on the circuit.
This wonderful piece contains large amounts of pride and a
heaping bowl of braggadocio thrown in for good measure.
I’ll bet that old fossil was smiling like a Cheshire Cat…

Killed By a Coconut

A Shel Silverstein original as sung by his old friend, Bob Gibson.
He wrote a lot of hits for other folks, at least as many as he wrote
for himself, and they are all good.
And then some.
Bob was no slouch himself, back in the day he was as good as it gets.
Shel sings some back ground on this one…
