Comedy 101 Radio Playlist 12.5.19

I mixed a little holiday fare into the mix
but I didn’t go insane, the usual off the wall
mirth is what I adhered to.
I’m proud to say that I played a lot of new
material this week, some great stand-up
from a diverse group of folk.
Alonzo Bodden is always a treat, he really
has a superb stand-up act; stage presence,
material, and overall personality are his
strong suits, one of the better acts on the circuit.
Lydia the Tattooed Lady!
I played that timeless classic from 1939 made
famous by Groucho Marx in the Marx Brothers
flick At the Circus.
This is certifiably cool as hell…I went to work this
morning like I usually do, hit the toll booth in the
one lane that I knew where my favorite guy would
be taking cash and when I looked up he was
wearing a fake mustache and thick black glasses.
As I passed him the money I smiled and said
“Keep warm, Groucho!”
It was 20 degrees, windy, downright miserable
and this guy STILL had a sense of humor!
Not to mention that this youngish, twenty something
strapping young lad was embracing a true comedic
icon more than eighty years AFTER his peak of fame!
Just when I start to think that maybe, just maybe, I
shouldn’t play the really old material on the show
stuff like that happens.
New material by Stewart Francis, Pete Correale,
Alonzo Bodden, Mike MacDonald, and Rik Roberts.
New material to the show by the late, great Greg Giraldo.
By request, Star Trip by The Congress of Wonders!
If you’re a fan of the original Star Trek series starring
everybody’s favorite thespian William Shatner you’ll love
that piece.
Dog block, Car block, Love Block…couldn’t help myself.
The late, and very much underrated, Tracy Thielen
from Tracy and the Hindenburg Ground Crew with
a manic ode to cerebral disenchantment.
