I consider myself very fortunate to have seen the late,
great John Pinette live on stage.
Out of all the stand-up comedians I’ve seen and heard
over the years John impressed me the most.
I keep going back to him because nobody has/had the
timing and the substance like this man possessed.
At first I was impressed with his material, but also
aware of the dangers of being a One Trick Pony, “He
can only milk that Fat thing so far.” I remember
thinking to myself.
Boy, was I wrong!
He milked it alright, but he also honed it to a very
sharp, humorous point that he’d jab everyone with.
Sloppy metaphor aside, he was much more than that a
simple fat joke, what eventually impressed me more
than anything was his timing.
This piece is a great example of that, a lesser
comic with the same material would not have gotten
the laughs that Mr. Pinette received.
R.I.P John, and thanks for all you did…
