The Christmas Jug Band put out a holiday recording in 2002
that was superb in every way!
Front man, Dan Hicks, was in fine form and never sounded better.
His voice was very warm and quite magical, it certainly showed
in this tune.
They really gelled, lots of nostalgia built into this classic.

This comedy sketch by The Frantics is a real hoot!
I’ve said this many times in the past, Canada has
produced some outstanding comedians…troupe,
stand-up and musical, and they have always impressed me.
These folks are as close to the top of the heap as you
can get, a very talented bunch indeed.
This is laced with impure thoughts and juvenile behavior.
In other words, a slice of life with loads of laughs…

Tommy Ryman is a very talented stand-up comedian!
Cerebral, great timing, nice observational skills
and quirky as all hell.
Most, if not all, stand-ups have a shtick.
John Pinette centered his humor around his girth.
Emo Philips acts like a very intelligent man-child.
Tommy’s routine accents his diminutive frame, geeky
demeanor and apparent lack of athletic capabilities.
He pulls it off quite well, mines it for all its worth.
A very funny man, I highly recommend him.

An interesting holiday show!
Played a lot of the favorites with a little
of the usual traditional humor.
I’ll really hit it hard next week.
Shopping was big, what people think when they
purchase presents is always good for a laugh.
Or not.
I detest the mall experience, I get claustrophobic
around that many people.
Top that off with the curse of NEVER knowing what
to give for a gift and you have a recipe for
pain and disappointment.
But enough of my problems.
Dan Hicks has such a sweet voice, nothing quite like it.
He fronted the Christmas Jug Band and this week’s song
has some serious charm.
Bob Rivers is still king of the holiday parody tune.
Mojo Nixon is still a nutty genius, more power to him.
The Fools, Fly Amero, Kings of Carnage, Dan Hart are
all superb, nothing has changed there.

New Hampshire native Fly Amero put out a superb three track recording
a few years ago that has some wonderful holiday fare on it!
He’s a talented guitarist and singer that is very good at what he does.
This is my favorite cut off of that release, it’s a tale of woe and
insane electric bills…

This is a pretty funny offering from the gang at Robot Chicken!
They made some really humorous episodes out of old toys and
poorly drawn scenery, it helps to have a sick mind as well.
“Why didn’t we just go around?!” indeed…
