The Late Show with advice on helping those that have the IQ of a grilled cheese sandwich! If you know someone that fits that description have them wipe that ice cream cone off their forehead and give them a call. I might just do that, I’ve been drooling a lot lately…
A great piece of comedic nonsense by Hard ‘n Phirm! Mike Phirman has since gone solo with terrific results, but when in this duo with Chris Hardwick they kicked some humorous buttock together. I’m always happy to play the odd track, the odder the better. I love the cut-in in the middle…
This great piece of lunacy is from the first year of Saturday Night Live! Yes, back when it was funny, indeed. Released in 1976, I snapped the vinyl album up and was just as resolute when the CD arrived on the scene. The reason the first year was special is the skills that those original members had, alumni of the National Lampoon Radio Hour and The Lemmings stage review, not to mention Second City and numerous comedy sources that existed back then, they learned from the best. They honed their skills in an era when radio skits were just as, if not more, important as television ones. You don’t see that anymore, radio is a dying format and the skill sets are firmly in the visual arena now. It is more difficult for me to locate as much quality programming for the show as I used to be able to, a sad reality that I have to contend with. Good stuff this…
Kevin Bozeman doesn’t like it! I share his irritation. This is a very funny piece, it’s clever and insightful. I’m trying to locate his material for the show. No National Pizza Day either…
I played this great tune, by Jerry Reed, on the show this week! It has a lot of character, clever lyrics and it’s sung with a style that only the late, great Mr. Reed had. One of a handful of guitarists considered by Chet Atkins to be a Certified Guitar Player, Jerry was a really interesting man with many talents. I loved his acting in the old Burt Reynolds flicks, he played the sidekick role quite well. Nice tune…
