Comedy 101 Radio 10.10.19 Playlist

A Health and a Scots block this week.
I cannot help myself, when I get the urge to play a
certain piece I have a tendency to add to the pile.
We hear from absolutely classic comedians like,
Rowan Atkinson, Brian Regan, The Frantics, The
Royal Canadian Air Farce and some old school
National Lampoon and other material thrown in
for good measure.
The Reverend Billy with a hilarious take on a
redneck bar gig that he once did.
A great comedy sketch from Peter Cook and Dudley
Moore, taken from their BBC Television series.
Ending with a gut buster from Kyle Kinane, one
of the better stand-up comedians on the circuit.
Not a bad show at all, read on…

Little Bits and Pieces

This classic Jim Stafford piece holds the distinction of
being the most expensive 45rpm record that I have
ever purchased.
It’s rare, not released on any compilation that I know of,
back when I was seriously looking for it I got lucky
when a record researcher that I hired found it in mint plus
condition at a record show somewhere in Mississippi.
It’s a humorous and clever song, lots of imagery even if
you don’t watch this video.
Jim was really popular back in the 70’s, had his own
television show and ran a club in Missouri I believe
that showcased musical and comedy talent.
I play a lot of his material on the show, some of it is
excellent and more than worthy of airplay.
Gotta love the refrain…

Bill and Ted Talk to God

A short but fun scene from Bill and Ted’s 1991 Bogus
Journey flick.
This is where God gives the boys Station, and the
Grim Reaper apologizes for being Melvined.
I’ve tried to hate these Bill and Ted movies but I
just can’t bring myself to detest something that’s
so much fun, silly but very humorous all in all.
Bill Sadler will be returning to the fold in the latest
chapter, there will indeed be a new B&T movie
coming out soon, nobody could play Death like he does.
I really want to see how Alex and Keanu pull all of it
together, considering they’re almost thirty years older.
It will be interesting…

Railroad Bill

Warning, I’m about to sound like an old timer!
This great song is by Andy Breckman, writer and
performer in this instance, and it’s one of the first
pieces I ever played on the show way back when.
Early 90’s, got a call from a rather small recording
company in Vermont called Gadfly Records.
I talked to the owner for a while and agreed to
review, and play if worthy, any comedy that he
might represent.
Andy Breckman was one such act, I loved his material,
and have been playing him ever since.
Mr. Breckman went on to be quite a talented producer,
creating the highly rated Monk television series, he wrote
for many others, and was known as a script doctor, injecting
humor into scripts that were lacking same.
He wrote for Saturday Night Live, back when it was funny,
for many years, starting from the very beginning.
This is an interesting ditty, lots of imagination, the visuals
are quite good, a couple of naughty words that might make
a nun blush a tad but nothing major…
