The Most Lazy Child Award

Andy Woodhull with a funny set about being a father
of teenage girls from a step-parent perspective.
Pulling from ones own life is the material some of
the most successful, and funniest, stand up comedians
have based their bits on, Andy does so as well.
He has a good style, a little angst with a bit of snark, and
a dash of exasperation, works quite well.
Dry cereal for want of bovine juice…

Paper Plates

Another superb offering by Mr. B The Gentleman Rhymer
Chap Hop, a lovely British invention, is a really cool genre.
Lots of character and imagination, with a dash of humor.
Who can’t like this?
Have a scone and enjoy the ride…

We’re Dead Dude

I simply HAVE to post a series of scenes from Bill
and Ted’s Bogus Journey, starting with this one.
The two boys have died, hopefully a temporary
setback, and wish to rejoin the living.
To do that they must beat the Grim Reaper
in a competition.
This is where it gets very interesting, and silly.
The whole flick is a gas, it never takes itself
seriously, and that’s what makes it work.
And boy does it ever!
Alex Winter is the brains behind these
Bill and Ted movies, and his chemistry with
Keanu Reeves makes for a great time.
There is a new one coming out, after all these
years, and it should be a blast.
Rumor has it, William Sadler, the guy who played
the role of death, will be returning.
Gotta watch that Melvin…

No Carb Diet

John Pinette with a classic piece about dieting
and suppressing the urge to kill.
I added that last part, I’m pretty sure that was
the prevailing attitude while cutting the carbs.
I saw a lot of this performance while he recorded it.
My schedule required me to come and go during
the performance, and I do believe that this CD
was done over at least a couple of shows.
A lot of times a recording will be a “best of” of a
series of performances at the festival.
I was lucky enough to see John live on several
occasions, always came away very impressed.
This is a great set…

Vegematic

The late, great Steve Goodman was a very
talented songwriter, musician, and performer.
He wrote some well known tunes for various artists
and did quite well for himself as well.
If he hadn’t been taken down by leukemia he’d
still be entertaining us with his skills and his wit.
This is a funny piece he released back in 1984.
I give him air time because he was one of the greats.
He deserves that, gotta keep those folks alive…
