Group Hug Before We Kill Him

I post this gem at least once a year.
From the 1976 Peter Sellars flick Pink
Panther Strikes Again.
What a great one liner!
Gotta love it…

I don’t usually do the bootleg video thing.
There are times when you must deviate from
your norm because of intangibles.
Tom Parks was brought to my attention many
years ago when he was on HBO’s Not
Necessarily the News show.
NNtN was kind of a rip-off of a British BBC
Television program called Not the Nine O’Clock News,
starring Rowan Atkinson, but it wasn’t the usual dumb
down American version of all things stolen from the BBC.
Tom Parks was intelligent, personable, and really funny.
I started to follow his stand-up career and was very
impressed with what I saw.
So much so that I have deemed some of his material to
be absolute classic, it’s that good.
To this day I cannot find anything mass produced in any
kind of usable format that I can post or play on the show.
That’s a real pity because I believe that he had all the
material, talent, and style to be one of the very greats.
This piece, as flawed as it is, was taken from a special
that he did back in 1992 and it contains some of the
material that I consider to be his classic stuff.
As you can see he is a very polished stand-up comedian
with top notch stage presence.
Smart as a whip, and twice as likeable, please forgive the
crappy recording, especially the glitches.
If he wasn’t so darned good I wouldn’t even post it…

I hear my coworkers exclaim their desire to go
somewhere comfortable and sunny.
Not unusual for this time of year, of course.
Winter can be, and has been, quite harsh in this area.
I can visualize such a place..warm sand between
my toes…tall glasses of something cold and
delicious…the soothing sound of waves lapping
at the shore…gunfire…mass rioting…military
planes strafing large lizard like beings intent on
storming the beach…
Could be me, I’m a bit dark.
2NU might be able to help with the imagery.
And the groove…

This is a funny scene from Men in Black 3 with Boris
digging the mirth and J getting flashy.
All in all a pretty interesting movie, the flow is great
and the acting is as good as it needs to be.
The Animal needs to loosen up a bit…

Cy Amundson is a very talented stand-up comedian.
He leans towards the story telling side of the equation.
Not a one-liner kind of comic, instead of setting the joke
up for a killer punchline he tends to create a humorous
series of comments pertaining to the stories premise.
He announces an issue that he has, then fleshes it out
with smart, incisive witty commentary.
I might also mention that he’s a bit on the twisted side.
Good for him, and for us.
This is a funny bit…
