Comedy 101 Radio 8.6.20

It was a pretty decent show, If I may say so myself.
New material, old classics, lots of standards
that we shouldn’t let fade away.
Some interesting artists for sure.
The late, great Hawaiian comedian Rap Reiplinger
was certainly a talent.
Some superb new material from Greg Warren.
Jim Nesbitt, Pavel Bobek, Steve Goodman, Billy Dare
and the Pumps, DJ Hazard, Norman Rose, Three
Dead Trolls in a Baggie, Elaine May and Mike Nichols,
all eclectic performers that don’t get airplay elsewhere.
The Toyes with a tight, well done tune.
It’s the middle of Summer and the theme was centered
around that…lots of water, sun, and frolicking.
Vacations made a decent block.
So did drinking, no surprise there.
I went heavy on Canadian content, there’s certainly a
boatload of comedic talent up there to pick from.
A lot of these pieces bring back some serious memories
from past Montreal Comedy Festival experiences.
Heavy on the frolicking.
Onward and upwards…

Bald is Beautiful

Bowser and Blue with a masculine lament.
You lose it off the top of your head, and it
grows like hell in your ears and nose.
Is this a gravity thing?!
Seriously, I’m at that age where it won’t
grow where it’s supposed to and I want to
know why.
These two guys are a Canadian institution.
Nobody could have sung it better…

Tramponuns

A classic in every sense of the word.
Peter Cook and Dudley Moore were the standard
by which all other British comedians were measured.
Numerous recordings, their own BBC Television show,
movies, comedy sketches, and the adulation of their
fans are what legends are made of.
They inspired Monty Python…what more can you say?
This is an inventive and interesting skit, it certainly
shows you how their minds could work…

Way of the World

Kyle Kinane is a great stand-up comedian, one of
the best on the circuit.
He’s out there, and yet right here with us.
A bicycle lament for the ages.
A few low level naughty bits that can be quite
unsettling if you have no life and still live
with your mom…
