Comedy 101 Radio 6.24.21

An interesting show, eclectic would be a good word to use.
Mentally challenged would be an even better phrase.
A few playful blocks to ponder.
Some new material, some old, lots of middle.
Marty Feldman does a classic.
Bob Newhart with a signature piece.
Kyle Kinane Kills.
Steve has no idea what’s in his hotdog.

Baby It’s Cold Outside

A classic novelty tune by Homer & Jethro with June Carter.
This was first done in 1949, it proved such a hit that it
became am enduring part of their future team-ups.
Today’s block will be Cold, Cold/Hot, Hot.
It’s that time of year, what can I say?

Beat the Heat

Parts of this country, and a large part of the world, are
going through a heat wave of sorts this year.
High temps are becoming the norm.
The area that I live in had temps close to 100 degrees
last week, before Summer actually started.
You may find some helpful tips here to help you
cool off a bit.
Even if you don’t, watching these folks should bring a
grin to your kisser.
And if you’re lucky, a kiss to your grinner!
Rhett, Link, and Meekakitty in all their sweaty glory…

Hot Weather vs. Cold Weather

As only Jim Gaffigan can describe it.
This is pretty funny set on what kind of weather
you can expect to see in certain parts of the country.
I’m actually further north than Bangor, Maine, one of
the cities he talks about here, and it IS cold around
here in the Winter.
Jim seems to be getting funnier with age, his timing is
better and he doesn’t milk a joke like he used to.
That’s the sign of a great stand-up comedian, moving
forward and improving as you go along.

Four Letter Words

The late, great Oscar Brand has earned many accolades
over the many years he lived on this planet.
Not only a fairly gifted musician and singer, he has the
distinction of having the longest running radio show
in broadcast history…over 70 years on WNYC in New York.
Primarily a folkie, he was known for his social commentary
and his commitment to world peace.
The man was driven, and we all have benefited by it.
Check him out on the net if you have a chance, well worth
your time to do so.
A tune about profanity, or not…

Locksmith

Police Squad was a great vehicle for the late, great
Leslie Nielsen, his deadpan delivery and above
average good looks made him a great fit.
Frank Drebin will always be known as a truly
hilarious character in an otherwise black and
white world of stern television detectives.
This scene is superb, it has all that you need in a
comedy…a femme fatale, double entendres, inside
jokes, sight gags, and keys.
