A wonderful slice of the classic Stan Feberg Presents

The back and forth between Betsy Ross (Helen Kleeb)
and George Washington (Stan Freberg) is outstanding.
Some great lines here…

A Shel Silverstein tune as sung by a dear friend of his.
I must admit, I was looking for Shel’s version of this
when I stumbled onto this gem.
It changes the complexion a bit but it is thoroughly
enjoyable and quite entertaining.
Shel was a phenomenon, nobody quite like him,
before or since, a truly talented human being.
Bobby Bare shows his respects.
Lots of wisdom here…

This is all you really need to know.
“I’ve got all the pots and pans I need, Honey!”

Out of all the great stand-up bits by the very talented
Cy Amundson this one really gets me going.
His story telling approach to the craft is quite good.
He lays it all out for you, peppers it with humorous
anecdotes and whacks you with a better than average
punchline that makes you grin and think at the same time.
The imagery is excellent on this one, you can picture each
and every one of the characters he describes, vividly.
Some profanity, it’s Saturday no bosses around, who cares?
I played this on the show last night, a wonderful piece…

An Independence Day show, and I got a bit long winded.
Which means I didn’t get to play a few things that I had
anticipated doing, a minor regret but still a bummer.
I cannot stay away from Stan Freberg at times like these.
His 1961 recording Stan Freberg Presents the United States
of America Volume #1 is the classic that all novelty recordings
are to be measured against.
I would say that for the voice acting alone, it’s outstanding!
But it is so much more than that though.
It is brilliantly written, almost completely by Stan himself.
He also voices quite a few characters, superbly I might add.
The timing, acting, and interactions between the players is
as good as it gets.
Satire at its very best.
Lots of that in the show, and glad to play it.
Some day no one will, and that will be a shame.
A rather strange rendition of the classic Monty Python Four
Yorkshiremen sketch, Rowan Atkinson sits in with the MP
gang and it is quite obvious John Cleese has a bad cold or
flu, he sounds terrible but he gives it all he has.
Paul and Storm with Ten-Finger Johnny, a tune that kills.
Literally.
Greg Warren keeps getting better.
Tracy Thielen ain’t quite right.
Kathleen with a great fish story.
