Comedy 101 Radio 9.30.21

First Fall show of the year, and it shows.
Brent Butt is a very respected Canadian
stand-up comedian of fine repute.
The Conception Corporation was outstanding
back in the day, they will live on.
2Nu with the best production values ever,
not too shabby on the humor too.
Dennis Wolfberg was one of a kind, got into
stand-up comedy late in life but really made
a mark, tonights cut is a classic.
Utah Phillips was a story teller, I loves me
some story telling, if it’s good…it was.
Richard Pryor and Chevy Chase with a skit
that was insanely funny when it first came out.
I saw it when it played, SNL’s very first year, and
was totally blown away by it’s humor.
George was so good during almost all of his career.
Not a knock at all, he’s my number one of all time,
but he did have spells where he wasn’t that sharp.
Towards the end he had reinvented himself, yet
again, and got his mojo back.
Played a nice one by him, irreverent as all Hell.
Lewis Black with a great piece, didn’t need the
visuals to feel it.
Daniel Tosh deserves the top spot, he’s as sharp
as they come
A few crazy blocks, lots of mirth to be had
in…emotional instability, canines, words,
beans, relationships, and death.
It figures that death would be last, the rest
is a bloody mess.
I attempted to make sense of it all, after
giving it some thought I decided against it.
Life itself doesn’t make sense…why should I?
An interesting show, and nobody died,
not during the making of it anyway.
Asking for more just tempts fate.
Onward and upward…

R.I.P. Woody!

Constable Savage

A superb comedy sketch by Not the 9 O’Clock News.
These folks were the top of the comedic heap when
they were at their peak.
British comedy at its finest.
It doesn’t hurt having Rowan Atkinson on board.
A pretty funny piece, current as well…

Bad Cobra

A rather dark piece from Dan Cummins.
Nothing at all wrong with dark if it’s done right.
And Dan does it right, and then some.
Moral of the story?
Don’t keep a snake as a pet!
One would think…

A Clean Song

A classic piece of double entendre as set to song.
Oscar Brand was a very interesting human being.
He holds the record for the longest running radio
show on record, he hosted a folk show on WYNC
in New York for over 70 years!
He refused to be paid for it, and by doing so he
maintained full control over the show insuring
that he could play anything that he wanted to.
He was for the common man, standing for the
people who could not do so.
Not to mention a pretty decent folk singing
resume’, he penned and performed many a
great folk tune.
After all is said and done he had a hell of a
sense of humor, having penned and
performed many a humorous ditty.
I seriously love artists like him, he had it all
when the world needed him most.
This is most certainly a pretty bawdy song.
Loaded with innuendo and adult themes.
The late, great Oscar Brand with a sea
shanty like no other…

Beat the Reaper

Firesign Theatre with a dark piece of greed and pestilence.
Not the type of game show I’d want to be a part of…yikes.
Back in the day these guys ruled, they were really out there.
If I play them they are still with us, enjoy…
