The Battle Car

It’s inching ever closer to Halloween and I’m getting
caught up in the spirit of the occasion.
Lots of ghastly comedy, and I love every bit of it.
Especially this series of flicks.
The first movie in the Evil Dead epic started off as a
serious horror with a few comedic moments in it.
The second cinematic offering was a horror/comedy
hybrid, and the third was almost all humor with a
smidgen of scary stuff.
This is a scene from the third movie “Army of Darkness”.
Talk about killer scenes, lots of superb stuff in this one!
A ton of quotable lines as well.
This has it all…

A Whimsical Story About Throwing Babies

Tommy Johnagin used to be a star quarterback in college.
And like most upper echelon athletes who can no longer
strut their stuff he can’t fathom living without the adulation
and the benefits of being the Big Man on Campus.
Having said that, his throwing arm is always at the ready.
His family and friends are under strict orders not to hand
him ANYTHING that cannot survive a “long bomb” or a
game winning “Atomic Spike!”.
Someone once made the mistake of giving him a small
dog to hold…let’s just say he mistook a passing pick-up
truck for his Go-To receiver…intercepted by a taxi…
fumbled…scooped up by a street sweeper!
You’ll be happy to know he went for, and got, the extra point.
Fluffy will NOT be in the X-mas card family photo this year…

Normal

A Martin Mull classic.
We all go through it, it must be embraced at some point.
Normalcy is not something I strove for early in life, but
here it is, in all its grotesque glory.
Some decent lines here…

The Gym

Jim Gaffigan has gotten better with age.
He wasn’t half bad when he started, a few rough edges
and timing that could have been better but fairly decent.
He’s gotten tighter, much better timing, picked up the
pace a bit, and the material has improved.
He’s an observational comedian, his true gift is adding a
bit of humor to the mundane.
Talking about working out and all its glory…
