Sneaking Into the Castle

When I first noticed this slice of the 2015 flick Minions, I
thought it might not really work as it was listed as a
cartoon for kids.
Not sure what kind of “kid” they were thinking of here.
This gets pretty nutty real fast.
I do like the humor in these jaundice little critters, they
are well written and rendered.
Reminds me of the olden days of Bugs Bunny, Elmer Fudd
and the gang, comedy created by adults, for adults, with
another level of jocularity just for the little ones.
That certainly looks to be the case here, it’s pretty funny…

We Have Nothing to Say

Wisdom from Red Green.
Home spun humor is best nibbled at, but when you
add some snark it’s okay to bite large.
Red’s comedy also bolsters my conclusion that all of
life can be humorous…timing, delivery, and perspective
playing important roles in that theory.
Case in point, “Gas Bags”…

Another Puff

The legendary Jerry Reed released this gem back in 1972.
He was a lifelong heavy smoker and it eventually took its
toll, but before he succumbed from smoking related issues
he produced and starred in a video about this song.
At that time he was suffering from emphysema and felt
compelled to produce a public service message recognizing
the dangers of smoking tobacco.
As good as that video is I’m going with this studio performance
instead, he looked really haggard in that one and I want to
keep it on the upbeat side, while still getting the message across.
This man is not a one trick pony, he was a certified country artist
with many hits under his belt, performed by him and others, and
was one of a very small handful of musicians that were designated
Certified Guitar Player by none other than Chet Atkins himself.
He acted in quite a few movies during the 70’s and 80’s, most
notably the Burt Reynold flicks that were very popular at the time.
Quite a guy, all in all, lots of talent and a great sense of humor…

Smoking

Kathleen Madigan with a look at nicotine and
the out of shape folks who love the stuff.
I smoked for many years, went through Hell
to quit, but am very thankful for stopping.
She has had the habit for quite a while, it
sounds like she’s ready to give it up.
It makes for great comedy material though…
