I’ve Been That Hungry…

Played some humorous stuff this week.
Out of the ordinary, oddball, unique and
outright goofy material to be sure.
Ed’s Redeeming Qualities started with a
piece that has all of the above.
Les Barker with a sad/funny bit that makes you
want to cry and laugh at the same time.
Scott Laningham with a very upbeat, toe tapping
kind of tune.
Getting old is always on my mind, blocked that
thought with all the fixins’.
Noel Paul Stookey went from folk icon to a
pretty funny guy, not bad progress for a
second career.
The Animaniacs were awesome.
Bob & Ray with a cute one.
2NU rocks, with superb production values.
An alcohol block, low lying fruit as it may be.
That piece by Paul Nardizzi cracks me up.
And oldie but a goodie, Frank Crumit with a
really old and very funny bit.
A doctor block.
Nichols and May were special.
Daniel gets the top spot this week.
Onward and upward…

The late, great Oscar Brand with a classic example
of a sea shanty with a healthy dose of double entendre’.
Heavy on the dose.
He is known for many things, one of which is the
longest running radio program in recorded history.
He hosted Folksong Festival on WNYC in New York
for over 70 years!
I’ve been on the air for 30 years and I thought THAT
was a long time…

Leslie Nielsen, George Kennedy and a felon with a
jocular look at law enforcement.
The late, great Mr. Nielsen was a very funny fellow.
He was blessed with “leading man” looks and for a while
he was all that and more.
Later in his career he switched to comedies and he
never looked back, and of that we can be thankful.
This is a funny scene…

Emo Philips with a witty and fairly entertaining look at
literary classics, holding your breath and the letter A.
This guy is a hoot, more cerebral than you’d give him
credit for, and as laid back as you can get.
He gave me a great interview a while back, I’m biased…

As done by the Bolivian Sunshine Dogs.
This band is unique and a lot of fun.
They also offer the proper respect to those
artists they cover.
In this case a Neil Innes classic.
I like it…
