Life is Like That…

This is one of a few flicks that Christopher Guest had a hand in
putting together, and I think the funniest.
Mr. Guest has a superb comedic pedigree, he did a lot of work
for National Lampoon in the early days, both the magazine and
the radio show, also did a few movies along the way.
He was in Spinal Tap, the cult metal head parody of the 1980’s.
Did a few mockumentary style flicks, was/is British royalty, and
the pinnacle of all that is wonderful, he married Jamie Lee Curtis.
Yep, he’s in the big leagues.
This whole movie is silly, Best in Show makes fun of the multitude
of professional dog shows that exist, especially the Westminster
event that takes the country by storm.
Even better, it parodies the people who follow such things.
This scene has the late, great Fred Willard as a commentator who
has nary a clue, about anything…

Shane Mauss is a very funny fellow.
He was a bit uneven when he first started out but he
has found focus and things have worked out quite well.
He’s a pretty smart guy, he’s learning as he goes and his
material has improved considerably.
A couple of profanities, nothing you need to create any
animal sacrifices to appease the gods for, but just in case
I’d clean the elephant gun and keep an eye out for the
dog next door that barks all night long in his back yard…

Gotta love Darby O’Gill with Scott Messer singing lead.
A fabulous little tune about a woman with large
hands, who can’t carry a tune for the life of her.
And something about a wibrator…

A short but humorous scene from Police Squad, the 1982
television series starring Leslie Nielsen as Frank Drebin.
This has some great lines, with the usual stereotypes
thrown in for good measure.
Mary has terrible taste in hand bags…

Nate Bargatze seems confused.
He had heard it was “Shaken, not Stirred”, but that’s for a
martini not for a small defenseless infant.
I hope to god there’s no babies in the room when he gets
thirsty, could be a problem!
Nate should probably wait to have children…
