I consider myself very fortunate to have seen the late,
\ngreat John Pinette live on stage.
\nOut of all the stand-up comedians I’ve seen and heard
\nover the years John impressed me the most.
\nI keep going back to him because nobody has\/had the
\ntiming and the substance like this man possessed.
\nAt first I was impressed with his material, but also
\naware of the dangers of being a One Trick Pony, “He
\ncan only milk that Fat thing so far.” I remember
\nthinking to myself.
\nBoy, was I wrong!
\nHe milked it alright, but he also honed it to a very
\nsharp, humorous point that he’d jab everyone with.
\nSloppy metaphor aside, he was much more than that a
\nsimple fat joke, what eventually impressed me more
\nthan anything was his timing.
\nThis piece is a great example of that, a lesser
\ncomic with the same material would not have gotten
\nthe laughs that Mr. Pinette received.
