{"id":436,"date":"2013-06-17T20:32:03","date_gmt":"2013-06-18T01:32:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/comedy101radio.com\/?p=436"},"modified":"2013-06-17T20:32:03","modified_gmt":"2013-06-18T01:32:03","slug":"the-only-one-in-my-tribe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/comedy101radio.com\/?p=436","title":{"rendered":"The only one in my tribe&#8230;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The nineteen nineties were a great time for comedy.<br \/>\nThat was when I really hit the Montreal Comedy Festival, otherwise known as<br \/>\nJust For Laughs (Juste Pour Rire), for interviews and material for the show.<br \/>\nAll the comedy acts would stay at the Delta Hotel right on the main drag and<br \/>\nI would set up shop in the bar\/restaurant at about one in the morning and wait<br \/>\nfor them to return from their gigs, looking for food and drink.<br \/>\nI was lucky enough to interview some superb folks, The Radio Free Vestibules,<br \/>\nEmo Philips, Elayne Boosler, Dom Irrera, Craig Shoemaker, Bobby Collins and many<br \/>\nlesser known, but just as funny, people from all walks of humor.<br \/>\nAt the time the festival people did not have any rules for interviewing, and if you<br \/>\ncould get a comedian to give you a few minutes, you had it made!<br \/>\nThey have since tightened up on all that, you cannot get any interviews unless you<br \/>\nclear it with the security folks and management.<br \/>\nNeedless to say, I liked it better the old way.<br \/>\nOne of the better groups that I had some fun with was Corky and the Juice Pigs.<br \/>\nThey gave me a superb interview, along with station IDs and many great memories.<br \/>\nI saw them live and they did all their hits.<br \/>\nThis was one of them&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><iframe width=\"420\" height=\"315\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/CwO33oUawM8\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>They have since disbanded but their material lives on.<br \/>\nMore on the festival in upcoming posts.
