Oscar Brand, an absolute icon in the American folk scene,
\npassed away last week and I feel compelled to spotlight
\nthis talented gentleman and all he’s done for the world!
\nWhere to start?
\nHe’s helped discover and performed with Bob Dylan,
\nJoan Baez, Woodie Guthrie, Pete Seeger, The Weavers and
\nmany more top notch entities.
\nHis New York City radio program ran for more than 70 years
\nshowcasing all of the above performers and many more that
\nhe felt deserved recognition…listed in the Guinness Book
\nof Records as the longest running radio show by a single
\nhost!
\nMany, MANY more accomplishments, a seriously long and
\ndistinguished list that would make him blush, but one stands
\nout above the rest.
\nIn the 60s he was a board member of the group
\nthat started the Children’s Television Workshop, aiding in the
\ndevelopment of a wonderful program called Sesame Street!

\nIn a lighthearted response to some minor disagreements that
\noccurred with him on the set, the powers that be named a
