The late, great Bob Gibson was born back in 1931!
At one time Bob was on par with Bob Dylan on the
folk singer circuit, he was an icon in the 50’s
and 60’s, performing well into the 80’s and beyond.
My favorite recording of his is the one this song
comes from, Makin’ a Mess: Bob Gibson sings the
Songs of Shel Silverstein.
A superb compilation of tunes written by Shel and,
in some cases, performed by Shel and Bob!
You can hear them both on this ditty, a nice time
had by all, especially the listener…

The late, great Daws Butler was born back in 1916!
A top notch voice over actor, one of the very best ever.
The voice of Huckleberry Hound, Yogi Bear, Quick Draw
McGraw, and many, MANY more.
Seriously, he was THE man if you needed a distinct and
interesting cartoon voice, right up there with Mel Blanc.
This is a piece that I covet from his time working with
Stan Freberg, one of his long time partners.
Stan, Daws and the immortal June Foray together with a
parody of a 50’s detective radio program that was highly
popular at the time.
Daws play the knave and the dragon…

A real classic by the late, great George Carlin!
If you have not heard this piece before you should
give it a listen, it has some really smart lines in
it that make it special.
George was one of a kind, nobody quite like him.
He will live on…

CW McCall was born back in 1928!
Real name William Dale Fries Jr., CW is
known more for his outlaw country trucker
songs than his many years as an advertising
executive for a Nebraskan ad agency.
He performed a few novelty items that hit
the charts in the 1970’s, this is one that I
enjoy playing on the show.
