On This Day in History

The late, great Thurl Ravenscroft was born back in 1914!
He lived a long and productive life with much adoration
from the Walt Disney lovers out there.
He did a lot of voice work for them, with Grimm Grinning
Ghosts and The Headless Horseman being some of his best
work in the medium.
He was the voice of Tony the Tiger on television
commercials for many years, with his deep bass he
let kids know that Frosted Flakes was indeed “Greaaaat!”.
I think his best work is this little piece from a Dr. Seuss
animation produced in the sixties, nothing quite like…

On This Day in History

Christopher Guest was born back in 1948!
A very much unheralded comedian that had his hand
in so many projects it’s almost impossible to list them all.
He was in on the early days of National Lampoon Radio,
gathered much respect for being one of the original
Spinal Tap members, went on to produce a series of
laid back but very funny movies beginning with Waiting for
Guffman, Best in Show (a brilliant spoof of Dog Shows), A
Mighty Wind and more.
He was also a member of Saturday Night Live during the
1984-85 years (back when it was funny).
And, he married Jamie Lee Curtis!
‘Nuff said.
Happy birthday Mr. Guest!
This is a funny sketch, he plays the part of Mr. Rogers…

D.I.V.O.R.C.E

A wonderful piece by the very special Billy Connolly!
I play this every chance I get, it’s a lesson on the proper
approach to pet and spouse.
It’s important to not mix that up.
Moral of the story?
Don’t take your wife to the vet…

Ajax Liquor Store

Hudson and Landry here with a classic from the Golden
Years of comedy!
Actually, just a bit after that but still a legend.
Nominated for a Grammy in 1971 this funny comedy
routine was a huge hit and much sought after by
the record buying public
These two started off as morning DJs in the California
area and were very successful as a comedy team until
their break-up.
I have all of their comedy albums in mint, unopened
condition and consider them to be an excellent addition
to my collection.
A lot of their material is a bit dated now, but not
this one…
