A Mix of Different Races

Dennis Gaxiola with a humorous bit about being
from all sorts of different backgrounds.
He’s a good comedian, he’s got great material with a
personality that makes you want to listen.
He also has an open mind, a rare thing in this day and age.
Not a soy latte fan myself…

The Cat Got Dead

Heywood Banks at his finest.
He is certainly a talented and very interesting performer.
Started off years ago as a serious folk singer of sorts, he
discovered that his between song comedic banter got more
applause and appreciation than his usual set list, so he
went in a different direction.
Great with a humorous lyric, one of the better ones out there.
Off of his Treated and Released recording…

The Multiplication Song

The Animaniacs with a witty look at math.
This animated series was one of the best ever, it had
it all…great musical scores, exceptional humor,
clever banter, and lots of adult humor mixed in.
I love it when they play dumb, they can stretch a
joke out for quite a bit using that technique.
Take notes, there’s a test later…

Trying to Be an Adult

Zoltan Kaszas is a pretty good stand-up comedian.
He has a nice, laid back, cerebral approach to his craft.
I play him on the show to great reviews, and he deserves
all the accolades that he has received.
He struggles with growing older, some things are easier
to accept than others, I can certainly relate.
That awning is beginning to look good to me as well…

Comedy 101 Radio Playlist 7.4.19

Happy Independence Day to all!
I went hard with the classics this week, so few
outlets for their material exist at this point in time
that I felt compelled to, if for no other reason than to
keep the performers in the light of appreciation.
The genius of Stan Freberg is hard to overstate.
His contributions to society are vast and well
documented, truly a one of a kind artist.
I am absolutely astonished, after repeated listening,
that the incredible voice actors he used in
his much acclaimed Stan Freberg Presents the United States
of America, Volume One: The Early Years were as good as
they were, and not just the usual superstars either.
The voice work of Helen Kleeb, as Betsy Ross, is truly a
wonder to behold, a very iconic portrayal.
Paul Frees is outstanding as the announcer at the
beginning of each piece.
Peter Leeds is superb as Charlie and the boat renter.
Yes, I’m a fan boy, no apologies.
Feels good to start playing my favorite Summer ditty
of all time by Kenny Young & the Eggplants.
I hope you all kept your fingers straight and your eyes
round this 4th of Pyrotechnics…
