This may very well be the greatest piece of stand-up comedy
ever performed by the best stand-up comedian that ever lived.
I am admittedly a bit biased on the subject, I’ve been collecting
comedy for well over fifty years and I am very much the fan.
Combine that with the fact that I’ve been an unabashed Carlin
lover since I first picked up his Class Clown album way back when
and you have my adamant, and unapologetic, opinion on the matter.
So there!
It’s humorous, revealing, and quite powerful.
George refined his material over the years if he thought he could
make it better, not something most comedians ever do.
He had many qualities that set him apart from the rest.
I play this piece once year, it’s a one of a kind slice of genius.
THIS is true stand-up, he’s not rambling, he KNOWS what
he wants to say and he performs it like the well written bit
that it is.
From the 1990 special “Doing it Again”, a true classic…
