As told by Tim Wilson.
I got as close as you can get in fireworks short
of being a professional.
But then again…I was indeed a pro.
My father and I used to sell fireworks we bought
off the boats in Boston, right from China.
Chinese fireworks were always the best on the planet.
Also the least expensive, we purchased huge amounts
of the stuff for next to nothing.
I was selling bricks of firecrackers for 3 bucks, bottle
rockets for 5 bucks a gross, and roman candles for 3
a dozen…and still making a killing!
And did we put on displays, vast amounts of ground
and aerial, with several kinds of percussive types.
The smell of gunpowder would stay in my nose well
into August after a decent 4th of July event.
Those were the days.
And yes, M80s were powerful back then…
