Not Thrilled about Your Pants Either!

Jeff Caldwell is a really good stand-up comedian.
He never fails to make me laugh, he’s got great
material, his timing is excellent and he has just
the right amount of snark.
He was kind enough to send the recording that
this cut is from to me after pleading with him to do so.
I hope he comes out with more material, I’d love to
play it on the show.
Some nice lines here…

Antsy McClain and the Trailer Park Troubadours with a
tremendously funny song about biting the big one!
He is quite a talent, a top notch musician with a superb
sense of humor and personality to spare.
I highly recommend anything he’s done, it’s all good.
Don’t put up that umbrella before it starts raining…

This classic piece by everyone’s favorite comedy troupe
was more than a bit controversial when it first aired
on British television back in 1970.
It is widely considered to be the most tasteless of
all their sketches, it was actually erased from the master
tapes by the BBC after it was shown and was only able
to be offered at a later date because one of the Pythons had
taped it from the original broadcast.
It was a part of John Cleese’s eulogy when Graham
Chapman passed away, and it was part a running gag during
the actual episode…the joke was that the Queen was
going to be watching the show that evening and that
the programming should reflect that (now THAT’s funny!).
Here it is, from the 1987 Final Rip Off recording…

This may very well be the greatest piece of stand-up comedy
ever performed by the best stand-up comedian that ever lived.
I am admittedly a bit biased on the subject, I’ve been collecting
comedy for well over fifty years and I am very much the fan.
Combine that with the fact that I’ve been an unabashed Carlin
lover since I first picked up his Class Clown album way back when
and you have my adamant, and unapologetic, opinion on the matter.
So there!
It’s humorous, revealing, and quite powerful.
George refined his material over the years if he thought he could
make it better, not something most comedians ever do.
He had many qualities that set him apart from the rest.
I play this piece once year, it’s a one of a kind slice of genius.
THIS is true stand-up, he’s not rambling, he KNOWS what
he wants to say and he performs it like the well written bit
that it is.
From the 1990 special “Doing it Again”, a true classic…

Darby O’Gill with a very cool tongue twisting song
of marshy consequence.
Scott Messer is the lead vocalist, and a great singer is he.
Above and beyond all of the musical and vocal talent
this band possesses they have one heck of a sense of humor!
They’re not really big on a certain rodent but that’s not a
deal killer, they probably have a fondness for acorns and
they don’t like to share.
Some great wordplay here…
