I Can’t Get Behind That

William Shatner sings!
Kinda.
Mostly moans and pontificates a bit.
A little warbling, but no real singing.
We should all be thankful.
This is an interesting piece, he is a bit
self deprecating and quite gabby.
I poke but I hold respect for the man who
played James Tiberius Kirk.
Scotty, one to beam up…

New Age Parents

The wonderfully talented Tommy Ryman with a
great set about his parental units!
He’s a really good stand-up comedian, a quirky
compelling kind of guy that makes you want to
listen to what he has to say.
And he has LOTS to impart, all of it quite humorous.
I like this bit…

Comedy 101 Radio Playlist 8.23.18

It was a great show this week, lots of new material and,
even better, some 2nd generation refinement.
When a good comic puts out a second recording I have
found that it’s either a big up or a big down, very
few are average.
Some comics are inspired by the reaction of the first.
When that happens they put out something even better.
Some of that here.
An interesting show…

Dingaling

The late, great Judge Dread was a real talent!
He used a ska and reggae beat to cover some very
popular numbers.
This is one that Chuck Berry made famous.
He puts a spin on it all his own.
A great Summertime tune for the ages.
You know the lyrics, sing it loud or I’ll
confiscate your Ding-A-Ling!
“When I was a little bitty boy…”

Lifeboat Sketch

Aaah, the joy that is Monty Python!
Those folks are the number #1 BEST
comedy troupe of all time for a reason.
They had the tendency to modify a sketch
over time if it suited their needs.
Even thought the skit was very well known
for a certain member to play, that could
change depending, on the mood of the folks
involved, the location of the event, or
the audience participation.
In this one, Graham Chapman produces the
retort that breaks the flow at the beginning.
In the version that I play on the show Graham
is the hard nosed survivor that rebukes Terry
Jones for breaking the script.
It’s all good.
This version is taken from the original
BBC television show, it has a great ending,
not at all like the album recording but
a real treat all in all.
Great stuff!

Naming Your Kids

Kathleen Madigan’s new recording, Bothering Jesus,
is breaking all sort of records!
It’s the #1 comedy album on the charts, it is the
most requested comedy recording with Pandora, and
Comedy 101 Radio as well, and it is as sharp as
anything she’s ever put out, it’s that good.
She just keeps getting better with age!
I have always liked her, a superb stand-up comedian.
I love the word play here…
