The Hostage

I love to play this Kurt Weitzmann gem on the show!
A lament that I often state while on air is the fact
that they don’t make good comedy sketches like this
anymore, radio is a dying format and skits are made
for a visual medium at this point.
Radio always had a knack for expanding ones mind,
in that a good audio only sketch had a way of making
you visualize the plot, using your own imagination to
fill in the blanks.
There was no need to describe what someone was wearing,
or what color someones hair was or the type of vehicle being
driven, the person listening provided that information.
This is a wacky, funny, irreverent throwback to the old days…

Take a Bullet for Me

Nate Bargatze with a humorous look at a scenario
that people in relationships often find themselves in.
Namely being asked a question that cannot be avoided
or answered correctly in any way, not without looking
like a total woodchuck at least.
He handles it appropriately…

What I Believe

This oldie but goodie is from the album Steve Martin Brothers,
a recording that came out in 1981.
This would be the last comedy album that Steve would make.
I have it and find it quite interesting, its two sides reflect the
dual talents of Mr. Martin, one being the stand-up comedian
that he was, the other being the self taught banjo player that
helped his early career as an entertainer at Disneyland.
Not to mention garnering him many accolades later in life as
a bluegrass performer.
If you have the time, check out his history, he’s had quite a life.
He’s won Grammy, Emmy, and numerous comedy awards over
his fifty plus years of performing.
This is an interesting piece, he pushes a few boundaries here
but it’s all in good fun.
And yes, he was right about the music…

Family Compromises

Jennifer Rawlings with a humorous set about being
married, having children, and losing your will to live.
I added that last part, I just assumed that having the
first two would lead to the last one.
Otherwise known as a logical assumption.
But then again we are talking about marriage.
Forget I said anything…
