Euphemisms

A classic piece of stand-up by the late, great George Carlin.
I consider him to be the greatest comedian of all time.
Certainly one of the most prolific, and controversial.
The author of the Supreme Court’s Seven Dirty Words
you can’t say on television, his legacy is quite solid.
To show you how silly that ruling was it only affected
non cable television.
Apparently only good people watch standard TV.
George was known for refining a good joke over time,
modifying it to make it better, this is one of those bits.
Brilliant in every way…

The Heckler Song

I have been to many a venue to see a stand-up comedian
only to be greatly annoyed by professional hecklers.
I kid you not, there are people out there that get off on
showing up at comedy clubs with an entourage of like
minded simpletons to do nothing more than disrupt an
otherwise decent performance.
When I first started seeing this I thought to myself that
it is an isolated incident, not at all prolific.
I was wrong.
It is pathetic, to watch a fellow human being try to
humiliate a comedian while they are doing their job
leaves a really bad taste in my mouth.
It is wrong on so many levels, not the least of which
is depriving the audience of a good show.
I stopped going to clubs because of this phenomenon.
Tom Wilson does a decent job of covering this issue…

American Psycho

This is a cool one.
Weird AL Yankovic and Huey Lewis in a sketch that can
best be described as “payback”.
Did I mention that it was dark?
It is gloriously so.
Parody at it’s best.
With a healthy dose of irony thrown in for good measure…

Thoughts

From Hotz.
That would be Jeremy Hotz, Canadian stand-up comedian.
This is a funny bit, shows his unique restrained manic style.
His observational awareness is exceptional, especially the
way he makes it funny…

Comedy 101 Radio 5.26.22

Started it all off with the late, great Kip Addotta.
I interviewed him back in the day, he was cordial and
willing to tell some great stories..
Landry and Biener were quite a team.
A Transition block, starts with cheese, ends with cars.
Why, I have no idea.
Jack Palance with a strange one.
Zappa with an even stranger one.
Guest and Crystal with a sketch from back when SNL
had stopped being funny, played it out of respect for
Christopher Guest.
I threw a few graduation pieces out there for the
high school seniors, I always get it wrong and play
that material at the same time as the college ones.
There’s usually a couple of weeks difference if not more.
A great contribution from a Certified Guitar Player.
One of the best lines ever used in a comedy sketch,
Peter and Dudley are very much missed.
Corky gave me a superb show ID back in the 90’s.
Been using it ever since.
Shel with a classic.
A decent contribution from Ellen, done before she
went commercial television.
We all need more money, Nick!
Onward and north of south…
