I decided to mix it up a little this year.
In the past I’ve played the heck out of the standard
holiday fare, which is mostly musical comedy by far.
This throws the comedic food group ratio way off.
Instead of Stand-up, sketch and musical each towing
a third of all that I play it was almost all musical.
I thought I would broaden the genre a bit by adding
some shopping/buying/consumerism into the mix.
That did open things up.
Especially in the stand-up portion, that has always
struggled with a paltry four or five good pieces to
play, not many comedians have done holiday oriented
material.
