That has MY attention!
Christopher Titus is a darned good stand-up comedian.
One of the best on the circuit.
Why he isn’t more famous, and accepted, says more
about the farm animals that frequent comedy clubs
than about Mr. Titus himself.
If I seem to have a bit of an attitude it’s because for
the last two hours I’ve been trying to download
more new material to use on the show and I’ve
been wasting my time.
Lots of new releases, with very few exceptions there
is nothing that impresses me.
What passes for “good” stand-up comedy in this day and
age baffles me, most of it isn’t even stand-up.
I hear lots of rambling, tons of opinions, and scads of
poorly executed jokes with the timing and intellect of
a twelve year old…none of which I consider to be true
stand-up comedy of any kind.
And “smart” comedy, dear flying pasta beast, nothing of the
sort exists anymore!
This guy still brings it to the stage, and kills while doing so.
I can list all the intelligent comedians currently in action
on less than two hands, Tosh, Kinane, Johannsen, Philips,
Madigan, and a few others.
Sad is what it is, hopeful is what I am.
I’ve seen cycles before, ebbs and flows of the comedic kind
are not new to me.
I’m still looking, until then regale yourselves with a truly
intelligent comic who knows the fundamentals, has the
material, and styles it like no other!
A little profanity in the middle, Grandpa might spew forth
an invective or two but that will just add irony to the
whole situation negating the offending matter.
Just put the old gummer in the basement…
