This classic Jim Stafford piece holds the distinction of
being the most expensive 45rpm record that I have
ever purchased.
It’s rare, not released on any compilation that I know of,
back when I was seriously looking for it I got lucky
when a record researcher that I hired found it in mint plus
condition at a record show somewhere in Mississippi.
It’s a humorous and clever song, lots of imagery even if
you don’t watch this video.
Jim was really popular back in the 70’s, had his own
television show and ran a club in Missouri I believe
that showcased musical and comedy talent.
I play a lot of his material on the show, some of it is
excellent and more than worthy of airplay.
Gotta love the refrain…
