Being Awkward

Tommy Ryman is a very funny fellow but he is a
bit on the uncoordinated side.
Aren’t we all?
One of my favorite artists to play on the show, he’s
laid back and quite cerebral, in a wacky sort of way.
A great set…

Ding A Ling

Judge Dread, aka Alexander Minto Hughes, was the first
white artist to chart a reggae hit in Jamaica!
An Englishman by birth, JD would outsell every single
ska/reggae artist in the 1970’s except Bob Marley.
A colorful character, he was a very powerful man
who made a living being a bouncer, bodyguard,
professional wrestler, and sometime security man for
The Rolling Stones.
He was also known as the most censored artist in BBC history.
Banned for suggestive lyrics and double entendres, he never
actually used profanity he was just a naughty fellow indeed.
And I say “Good for Him!”.
The world needs more people like that.
Alas, he is no longer with us, he passed away in 1998 after
having performed a gig in Canterbury, walking off the stage
he supposedly said “Let’s hear it for the band!” and collapsed.
He was actually a pretty good songwriter and Elvis Presley
was going to cover one of his songs but he died before the
deal was made final.
He’s doing a Chuck Berry tune here, with a Ska flare that
only he could accomplish…

Sandwich of Justice

You Suck at Cooking with a mouth watering saga!
Not kidding, that sandwich is killer on many levels.
Had my mouth absolutely watery at the half way mark.
I am going to make one just like it!
Very happy with this episode of YSAC.
Dennis, on the other hand, is not at all enamored with it.
I would recommend making him a sandwich, but…

Babies are Useless

That has MY attention!
Christopher Titus is a darned good stand-up comedian.
One of the best on the circuit.
Why he isn’t more famous, and accepted, says more
about the farm animals that frequent comedy clubs
than about Mr. Titus himself.
If I seem to have a bit of an attitude it’s because for
the last two hours I’ve been trying to download
more new material to use on the show and I’ve
been wasting my time.
Lots of new releases, with very few exceptions there
is nothing that impresses me.
What passes for “good” stand-up comedy in this day and
age baffles me, most of it isn’t even stand-up.
I hear lots of rambling, tons of opinions, and scads of
poorly executed jokes with the timing and intellect of
a twelve year old…none of which I consider to be true
stand-up comedy of any kind.
And “smart” comedy, dear flying pasta beast, nothing of the
sort exists anymore!
This guy still brings it to the stage, and kills while doing so.
I can list all the intelligent comedians currently in action
on less than two hands, Tosh, Kinane, Johannsen, Philips,
Madigan, and a few others.
Sad is what it is, hopeful is what I am.
I’ve seen cycles before, ebbs and flows of the comedic kind
are not new to me.
I’m still looking, until then regale yourselves with a truly
intelligent comic who knows the fundamentals, has the
material, and styles it like no other!
A little profanity in the middle, Grandpa might spew forth
an invective or two but that will just add irony to the
whole situation negating the offending matter.
Just put the old gummer in the basement…

Rub Some Bacon on It

Diagnosis complete!
Rhett and Link have a tremendous sense of humor.
It’s twisted and quite interesting.
And they know their audience.
We’re just as sick and twisted as they are!
This song plays well on the show, but the video
makes it that much better.
Didn’t work very well on the phone…
