Comedy 101 Radio 10.28.21

An all Halloween material show this week.
The way that I described it on the air was that the show
was going to hit all the memes, not necessarily following
the Halloween script.
Lets face it, Frankenstein, Dracula, Freddy Krueger,
Jason, and all the other monstrous beings out there
have nothing whatsoever to do with Halloween but we
bundle it all together anyway.
And I did it as well, for entertainment purposes mostly.
All is great in this show, seriously proud of what I have
collected over the years, especially in the Halloween genre.
I currently have over 40gb of digitized comedy in my
collection gleaned from 8-track, albums, 45’s, reel to reel,
Mini-Discs, and CDs and I am ready for ANY occasion.
Tom Lehrer kills it with a dark classic.
The late, great Logan Whitehurst with a superb piece.
Shel Silverstein with a disturbing song of psychotic woe.
The Holiday Hipsters with a really sweet tune.
Dancing with Cold Ethyl got my feet moving to the beat.
I can picture Connie Booth standing next to the crowd
extoleing her innocence while wearing that fake nose!
Arch Oboler with a very unsettling sketch.
George gets the top spot again!

In Our Haunted House

The late, great Andrew Gold was a very talented musician.
He had some decent chart toppers back in the day.
You can tell his musical pedigree with this piece, it’s got
great production values and an admirable sense of humor.
And he loved Halloween.
I love to play this one on the show…

Cemetary

Tom Mabe has made a decent living out of throwing
rocks at telemarketers, and rightfully so.
He scams them by having a script ready for certain
product line pitches, I’m sure he had to wait a while
before he got a good prospect.
This is a dark one, he set this guy up something fierce.
You can tell by his reaction at the end that he was
happy with the results…

In Praise of Vincent Price

Dana Gould is a pretty funny stand-up comedian.
When he was young and hungry he was one of the
best comics on the circuit, and not much has changed.
He does a fairly decent Vincent Price impression.
And a decently fair Don Knotts.
It really helps the humor here if you know who
Vincent Price and Don Knotts are.
Am I dating myself something fierce here?

I Hold Your Hand in Mine

A live version of a Tom Lehrer classic!
Not only live but THE 1967 Copenhagen performance.
The last time Tom performed for profit was in 1967.
He’s done a few things since then but more of the
benefit variety, tributes to an old friend and the like.
He is in top form here, the performance is as good as
it gets, and with Mr. Lehrer that is saying a lot!
The lyrics are gruesome and hysterically funny.
He REALLY gets into it…
