Bob and Doug McKenzie, aka Rick Moranis and Dave Thomas, are
comedic icons of the highest variety.
The back story on these two is a really interesting read.
Rick was a reluctant entry into the weird and wacky world
of comedy, he was more of a writer than a performer, and Dave
was the brother of Ian Thomas, Canadian pop star of the 70s,
and was also a writer and performer, acting with The Second
City Comedy Troupe during that same period.
Both went on to become very famous as the McKenzie brothers
for SCTV, the parody television network that hilariously
graced our airwaves back in the 80s, and also wrote for
that series as well as many other humorous endeavors…
Ghost Busters, Strange Brew, Stripes, Little Shop of Horrors,
Space Balls and so many more if would make your head spin.
Here is a fan tribute piece for a track from their hit comedy
recording The Great White North, starring Geddy Lee, who also
happens to be a boyhood friend of Rick…Take Off!
More to come!
